I gathered my supplies: Folders, 8 x8 paper, Fiskars punches, glues and my beloved post-it notes :)
I cut my folders to 8 1/2" width so that I had room to just sew the papers in, leaving a tiny border...I then just used my various Fiskars punches ( I bought mine including that supa dupa fab cloud punch at Joann's) to add some shapes to the cover.
* I hand cut the butterflies with my Fiskateers scissors and just a tip, for those who think they can't hand(fussy) cut with bigger scissors, it's not true! The key is to move the paper and not the scissors. I usually do a primary cut around the area I want to cut, THEN I fine tune the corners and edges afterwards I didn't want this desk organizer to be all "embellishment cluttered" like my normal scrapbooking projects-I wanted a 15 minute KISS (Keep It So Simple) project. I then just tied it all together with some fantastic tulle :)
Easy desk organizer
