Just an update on the weekend-we took a mini road trip to VA and met some new scrapbook friends! Thanks Lynne for inviting us to join you & your friends; we had a great time! Met some of our fellow Fiskateers sisters, or should I say "sissy's"....it was such a blessing and so much fun--was great to be a part of Nancy's birthday celebration, eat birthday cake {thanks Nicole} and to scrap at the same time! I can't wait to do it again! I did come home with a migraine {sinuses?} so I haven't unpacked or put stuff away but I did get some layouts done and may post them tomorrow here and on the Fiskateers boards. Am off to check out the Wizard of Oz....one of my all-time favorite movies since it's on TNT tonite.

BTW, I made it through to Round 4 for the Embellished Idol challenge! Whew~BUT Round 4's challenge is EXTREMELY difficult so....may have some problems this week with it. plus, they've changed to a different forum for voting and for those of my friends who aren't computer savvy, it's gonna be hard to get them to register in the new forum. We'll see.

is truly a challenge like no other...first I have to think outside my little teeny patterned paper box, then I have a deadline since the deadline is Australian time~ 14 hours ahead! HaRd!

But here is a small image of this week's entry...We weren't allowed to scrap on 12 x 12 paper and we had to scrap a LIFE MOTTO.....Here's my take....VOTE for ME!!!!!!!!!! Celebrate Christmas in July!

Be like BB and put up a tree in your room. Hang lights in the house and maybe add some decorative xmas balls in bowls around the house ......
Play Christmas tunes on your ipod. Have a green & red party -green m & M's and red cupcakes! Everyone has to wear red, green, stripes, all of the colors or some!

Make a Christmas dinner but instead of turning the oven on for turkey, just buy some from the store or get a rotisserie chicken from the deli. Everyone gets to bring a wrapped gift from the $1 store or Five Below...... Merry Christmas!

Embellished Idol ROUND 3...here I come...this week's challenge is: Scrap a life motto. This is to be done on some material other than 12x12 paper. HMMMMMMMMMMMMM.....gotta think about this one...wanted to say BIG THANKS to those who voted for me!

Yipee! A new challenge for scrappers and it started today! Here's Ali R's take on the contest; can u say CHALLENGING? UPLIFTING? EXCITING? NAIL BITING?

Welcome to the 3rd annual round of Embellished Idol. This year the competition will be bigger and better than ever before. We have sponsorship from some of the leading manufacturers and some fantastic prizes to be won!

Well the day didn't REALLY go as planned...went to the military base and those crooks were in the money making department...charged $12 per KID for cheesy blow up ride thingees (can't think of their name)...did I mention that it STORMED and we got SOAKED? And ohh yeah, B lost his glasses in the rain....and finally , the fireworks that went on as scheduled were just bloody awful! But we are free and allowed to have liberties that other people in other countries can only DREAM of, so I guess it's a trade off...kids were ok with the cheesyness of it all so ....


Before I'm off to bed, I'm excited that Embellished idol starts tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!

The Fourth of July 2008

On this day in 1776, the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress, setting the 13 colonies on the road to freedom as a sovereign nation. As always, this most American of holidays will be marked by parades, fireworks and backyard barbecues across the country.
