"Whatever with the past has gone,
The best is always yet to come." - Lucy Larcom
7 years ago (yesterday) we were at a break in the fence...on an ordinary day, the unexpected...premature labor at 25 weeks and it looked pretty bleak...and as anyone who has gone into premature labor before 30 weeks can attest, statistically this kid should not be here. Not a real good picture....and for 2 years and 7 surgeries later, it was grim at times and for the most part, not something I would ever want to relive ever again...BUT, like the quote says, the past is gone (but not forgotten) and the the BEST is yet to come... God keeps granting us favor and we believe that "this" child has a direct line to the man upstairs...This whole week, we celebrate Brandon and the fact that he is who he is & that our journey with him continues ! We love him and can't wait for him to eat his favorite ginormous chocolate cake on the weekend !! Each year is another feather in his cap; thanks to all of the therapists and educators who keep us "working"-he is your new masterpiece..he keeps making strides physically, emotionally and educationally and for that, we are eternally grateful :):):)

ReplyDeleteI went through a similar situation and feel the same way you do. I didn't start scrapping the photos till this week- it took that long to get over cringing over the photos. I'm so glad Brandon is thriving! Happy Birthday to him!
