Behind the scenes...my space (long)

By kate blue - Thursday, October 25, 2012

I know that most folks get the "spring cleaning" fever and want to change/upgrade their crafty space, but I get that urge all the time, all I have to do is look at others spaces or Pinterest...I have a thing about modular furniture (I'm not a fan) and I always wanted my space to be an extension of my house even though I'm down here in the basement (hence all the lamps)...it's MY space so I can't complain...The fab divas over at Authentique Paper were kind enough to show their spaces (and request to share ours ) and of course I wanted to change more stuff!  But, I decided to show you my space AS IS  since I did some "fall cleaning" last week and got Meg a nice box of donations!  My space is split into 3 major areas- SUPPLIES, WORK SPACE, NOOK/ TV

First up, my sewing table/ workspace where kids can craft table...I plan on finding a vintage table cloth soon cause I hate to see space under a table lol...that stack of paper that needs to be filed shows you that I am a true paper hoarder!

next up, supplies housing...I recycled an EA tv/stereo cabinet...may paint it at some point, but for now...it holds paper in the center and special pictures and altered items that friends have made for me: and there's inks and brushes tucked away in there too:
closeups:
love the color by numbers painting that Thing 1 did for me in maybe 7th grade?
cool giraffe closeup photo (left) is courtesy of Lynne Pleasant Photography...unedited pic of his eye-she knows my love of giraffes!

on the left side of the SUPPLIES cabinet : magazines & books, supplies tucked into mason jars and a letter that my uncle wrote me tucked into another (score at my local Habitat Restore store for 10 cents each-I loved that I got 6 of them that were all beat up, they looked so much better than new ones!), an altered piece I did with the lovely Ms. Jenni Bowlin, and an altered piece that my daughter made for me at sleepaway camp :):)
spice jar turnstile thingee holds brads, small flowers, glitter, etc...

right supplies side: the more junky side:  glues, baskets full of glitter and ephemera, glue guns,  ribbon and odds & ends that aren't used all the time...
TV/NOOK:  I have this little corner nook area that houses the tv, office supplies, mini books, punches, glue and paints:
more mason jar storage
stamps that I NEED to use more-thrown in a decorative box
and last but not least, MY actual messy scrap table:  no description necessary

so if there's anything you learned about me, it's that I don't like white, I don't like matchy-matchy, I love giraffes, crowns  and all things Evil Queen :) ; I love to be surrounded by texture...and like my twin sister says, I HAVE WAY TOO MANY  TCHOTCHKES !!! (and I agree)...they make me happy and boost my mojo...I have no co-hesive style but this space is all mine and my kids love coming down here and coloring, doing homework, watching tv all while I craft :)   Thanks for popping by and strolling through all the pics ! Don't forget to run by Authentique and check out all the inspiration!
