cleaned up my shelves in my studio and found some vintage goodies:
All Halloween vintage goodies ( I think there were some papers from 2009 in there) from Echo Park, Crate Paper and even Basic Grey woop woop! Am off to print some vintage photos so I can use up these bad boys! What's something super old that you've found in your stash lately??
The kids get candy but adults get to party! Wanted to thank the beautiful "Shak" for having such a fun party & I loved that we got to wear costumes...I was the spider "Queen" but the spiders wouldn't stick to my face so....we had lots of fun celebrating her 4-0th birthday and Halloween all in one! Great cake (probably the best cake I ever had), a cigar bar, great music and a fire pit -sSOOO MUCH FUN adult style!!!
In a perfect world, we'd have the traditional pumpkins of old....but NO, teenagers gotta change it up...we gotta make elaborate carvings, we gotta jazz em up, we gotta make em scary!
My Thing 1 decides that she's into Batman and her pumpkin must be the JOKER. So, since Thing 2 is in a copykat mode of EVERYTHING she does, he decided he too needed paint on his pumpkin...So, here we go:
well, we folks on the East Coast definitely didn't see this coming! I mean, in the county I live in, it runs far west so on one side, we've got the hurricane rains and then to the west, some snow?? so far, we've just had about 12 hours of rain and its a bit chilly but I am so glad that we got the pumpkin patch outta the way before the storm came! I had procrastinated till the end....
We decided to try a new place this year and we went to Spring Meadow Farm in Upperco...and I hate to say it, but the pictures make it look better than it was...it was cheesy and definitely not worth the admission price! I have a thing about picking my own pumpkins from out in the field and the website made it look like that was an option but it wasn't..at least if you want me to pick one from your store area, have a HUGE selection! Not to mention their corn maze looked like shit. And their kiddie ride thingees smelled funny & stinky and are probably the reason why Thing 2 is sick today...call me picky...From now on, it's either Sharp's at Waterford or either Homestead Gardens....
SO anyway, we spent the day together and as long as Thing 2 was happy.....
We decided to go to our local farmer's market to buy our pumpkins:
the boy went traditional but the girl just HAD to be different and didn't want to use a template-she wanted to freestyle her own sugar skull- you see what happened! I had to then "fix it" with toothpicks! Mommy was the smart one and used a template from ZombiePumkins...Team IronMan in da house!!!
and here you go...

By kate blue - Tuesday, November 02, 2010
I mixed it all up, Cozy Crop House scrapbooking, friends, candy AND scary...well, ya'll know I don't do scary, but since it was for my friend Missy who loves all things scary, I sucked it up and decided to partake :) Hope everybody had a great Jack-O-Lantern weekend and didn't eat too much of their kids Halloween candy! ! We went through all the goody bags with the kids (so they wouldn't be all crybaby and stuff) and straight up told them that they could each keep 1 (ONE) pumpkin o' stuff and the rest of the candy had to go straight to daddy's office!! So, 5lbs later, it is manageable....
here's some of the tricks and then we'll be off to some treats !!
