During my Vegas travels, I still found time to pack a mini kit and head off to one of the local scrapbook stores to meet some fellow scrappers!
The beautiful and talented Rochelle Spears who owns The ScrapRoom and runs the The ScrapRoom blog gathered some friends together to meet me and we had so much fun! Thank you Rochelle-this was AWESOME!!
We met at the Paper Bunny where the lovely and also talented Deidre Smith was-shame she was working behind the counter that day otherwise we could've talked all day long!
It was short (we were double booked that day) but sweet and we made plans to scrap again -It was great meeting Pamela, Dee, Stacy and Claudia and we may meet over at the other scrap store depending on where folks live next time but we will scrap again!
I know a lot of you are away for the last week before school starts, but I just thought I'd mention this one more time...it's all for a good cause and who doesn't love to scrapbook and meet new friends ???? In fact, Mandie attended a charity scrapbook event that I hosted for Brandon and the Children's Miracle Network and that's how we became fast friends 3 years ago...For those of us whose children have been affected by serious illness, I can't stress enough the importance of attending...Many of my scrapbboking friends met me AFTER Brandon was well and don't know my backstory but IF I ever share his WHOLE story, you'd understand (I'm like other parents who haven't gotten to that step yet despite my love for scrapbooking; it's only covered the good parts so far) my thoughts about charity CROPS FOR KIDS. :)
Anywho, here's the info IF your schedule changes and you can attend!!!!
My friend Mandie's daughter Paige, was diagnosed at the age of ONE with a brain tumor....She underwent numerous surgeries and 33 radiation treatments. She is now 5 ½ and cancer free!!! Mandie and her family are trying to find new ways to help fund the foundation responsible for saving her daughter. There are many families who are not so “lucky” and need there to be more research done.
She is hosting a Crop for Kids at Oliver's Carriage House in Columbia, MD on August 29th, 2009. Please join us from 10:00am to 8:00pm to CROP FOR KIDS. The cost is $30 and includes food, door prizes, goody bags and fun! Also, there will be raffle tickets sold for product as well!
All proceeds will go to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (http://www.pbtfus.org) The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization that seeks to find the cause of and cure for childhood brain tumors as well as increase public awareness about the severity of childhood brain tumors.
Please email Mandie Setzer @ msetzer@27seconds.com or contact her @ 443-799-3670 to sign up. All spots will be sold in advance. Thanks!!!

We're hoping to have 20 new signers this week- bring a friend!!!!!!! I am tempted to do a special custom RAK for a lucky person who signs up this week AND comes to the crop! Let me know when you sign up :)
This is who took home some really great stuff from the charity auction....Ms. Amber! Got a Cricut Expressions for like $ 175 !!! I forgot the exact price but it was a STEAL and all $$ went to our charity! She was also the winner of 2 of the fantastic books that Tracy donated from Photo Scraps !! Congrats Amber!!!
when I looked in my camera, I realized that I didn't even take very many pictures so....I'm missing a lot of folks-I do apologize and promise to do better next time! We'll have meet -n-greet time and photo ops!
and thank you Karla, for making your first {and probably last hehehheheee} scrap page-my twin sister is not a scrapbooker but since this was a scrapbook charity event, she got a picture from my sister {L} and did this just for the event...sweet huh???
was a success {in my opinion} considering it was our first one...thanks to Susan for all the hard work she did and for being so organized! I am waiting to hear back from her as to whether we can do this as an annual thing...she is opening herself to comments and suggestions to make it better-I heard some small suggestions as I walked the crowd. For example, that we could tweak the food a bit-thanks Brian for going to the Arbutus store for the cakes and the yummy chicken! Also have a coffee/tea/juice/water station since not everybody can drink coffee all day like I can! Also, we figured out that scrappers need junk food!
To Lynne and Essandra for giving me all the goodies to put in the GO GREEN bags for the charity event-I hope folks enjoyed.... Sometimes you just don't know how much stuff you have until you start to purge.....
And last but not least-thank you Lisa from Ethnic Scrapbooking who came by to donate and personally sign a copy of her book "Ethnic Scrapbooking" for me to place in the silent auction!
quick post-yesterday wiped me out! It's hard to co-host an event-you are pulled in so many directions and I'm upset that I wasn't able to take pictures with each and every person that came to the event yesterday....
Will post tomorrow folks! But for now-some pics as always! Some of the giveaways we had at the event!
thank you Mel for setting me straight and sending me some awesome goodies-I so love this kit-you can't see it , but the Crate Papers and the Sassafrass Lass papers are all double sided so....and it was very inexpensive and to me, the shipping from Australia was reasonable (somewhere around 8 bucks)...will be using it tomorrow at the crop so we'll see what I come up with!
WHRE: Elkridge Fire Dept 6275 Old Washington Road (could be considered Washington Road I think) Elkridge, MD 21075 Right off Route 1 North and Montgomery Road (Baskin Robbins/Dunkin Donuts combo is at that corner) in Elkridge
Since people are coming from different counties, I will not give specific directions but you can google it or GPS directions. For those that are coming and need my cell phone number, send me an email or msg via facebook or the blog and I'll send it to you. I'll actually have it and have it ON that day :)
I went and checked out the space today and there is plenty of room -Keep in mind though that a bridal party is coming in right behind us and we have to clear out the space in a timely fashion.
We will have Cricuts and a Cuttlebug on site for your use for a small donation; bring your mats in case I forget mine. Will have some cartridges but am not sure how many since I'm trying to find somebody who will let us use their cartridges since I only have 7.
The space is air conditioned so if you are cold-natured, please bring a sweater or jacket!!!
